State Planning Board

The State Planning Board was constituted vide G.O.Ms.No.1/97/PRD dated 7.3.1997 and subsequently reconstituted during September 2009. Further, the Board has again been reconstituted during December 2011. The Lt. Governor as Chairman and the Chief Minister as Vice-Chairman. The Council of Ministers, Members of Parliament (Rajya Sabha & Lok Sabha), Chief Secretary, all Secretaries to Govt. are members of the State Planning Board. Secretary (Planning) is the Member Secretary. Four experts drawn from the field of Economics, Rural Development, Public Administration are included as non-official members.
The functions of the Board are:

• To advise the Government on the formulation of Development Plan / Schemes for the Territory;
• To review the implementation of the Development Plan / Schemes;
• To advise the Government on any matters pertaining to economic development and policies and
• To find avenues to augment resources to meet the needs of development planning.
